As people who know me know, I am very busy giving 150% to my clients in my service business (theaptconsultant-b2b.us) and have very little time to actually do any of my own marketing – hence you see this poor blog that is so neglected.

Well, I really made a decision to start adding some ‘multiple streams of income’ because I can always use more money. I figured since I am always saying I do fine when I am accountable to someone or have a project plan, I got this great course in the Internet Marketing Warrior Forum, aptly named just for me, the course was for ‘deadbeat marketers’ – I definitely fit the bill.

What’s more I could actually see myself following through and actually taking action. So I went through the course both basic and advanced. Then I went through it again and bought some domains, got the hosting and installed WordPress. Did a little research and got some hot products to sell. I posted my first blog and created a hub. Here we go right?

Wrong. Less than a week later I get a letter from Amazon saying that my state requires that they charge sales tax online, which they refuse to do, and therefore they are kicking all affiliates from my state out of their program so that they don’t have anymore conflict with our misguided government here. So, my new business is officially shut down. Deleted.

I am livid. My state has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. We have a number of things that are really terrible financially speaking. Now they are going to prevent us from making money with Amazon. Not that I am unemployed, but I know a few people who are educated, skilled and motivated to succeed that just can’t find a decent job for the past few years. The Internet is the perfect solution for people like this (not that I can convince either of them – but I am convinced – in fact I am proof).

In fact I got here 7 years ago when I lost my last job in a massive ‘workforce reduction’, and have enjoyed working from home online. I am doing well supporting myself. I pay my taxes and it’s all good. However, this is such a STUPID LAW they are thwarting our efforts to support ourselves with, and as Amazon says this is ‘unconstitutional and illegal’ and initiated by ‘big box retailers’ that feel the competition they are getting from Internet businesses like Amazon.

So Amazon is not spilling any tears right now as our absence will barely make a dent in their bottom line, but once again, it is the little guy who is paying for this miscarriage of justice and gross mismanagement by politicians. We are paying sales tax – more and more every day – and maybe rightly so – look at the pollution, traffic and parking problems that offline business creates.

Conversely Internet shopping saves the environment from gas fumes, clogged up infrastructure that is constantly needing to be upgraded, etc etc. I pay income tax and self employment tax – both state and federal. I pay local taxes for a business license. I pay more and more sales tax whenever ‘those people’ in the state capital decide they need to increase their revenues. I could spend more if I was allowed to make more!

People who are completely unemployed have it way worse than I do, I realize. At the same time prices for necessities are rising and rising along with the cost of gas, bridge tolls, etc etc. They are cutting public services – police and fire – how stupid is that? … and now people’s ability to earn money from alternatives to being unemployed!

It is a real shame that this new regulation is so short-sighted and mean-spirited. Figure out some other way to get ‘blood out of a turnip’ than interfering with people trying to make a living online, guys!

I’m baaaaack!

That was what I call a long time writers block – over a year. A lot has changed and I had a lot to do to get rid of a lot of old baggage on this site. I am sure it is in the proverbial sandbox for the length of time I was derelict in my own Internet Marketing.

Just to give you an update of the state of my state of affairs. I am in my fourth year working for Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy as the member support director for Plug-In Profit Site. I sure do love working from home and love the Internet Marketing industry fur shur! I am just so blessed that there are things that I can (and will) do so that I can be a part of this wonderful group of people, since I obviously don’t do much marketing anymore.

I am still a moderator in the Internet Marketing Warrior Forum (the Plug-In Profit Site Support Forum) and also still loving that. I hang out mostly in the Off Topic forum which is to me ‘the back fence’ where I can be myself – we have a lot of fun there mostly posting music videos from You-Tube and reminiscing about ‘the good old daze’.

I am also writing articles for an Article Marketing client and this brings in some good extra money. I enjoy writing and seeing as how the unique-one-of-a-kind articles I write are about the Internet Marketing industry, I am well versed with plenty of ammunition since I have retained a lot of information over the past 5 years and get a lot of daily feedback from folks on the Plug-In Profit Site Help Desk.

I also am working with another client to launch their new program doing proofreading and editing. So a little more extra money here and there. I do like these little ‘come and go’ projects as it adds some variety. I wish Mike and Rob all the best on their new venture.

I am listening to tapes from ‘The Local Churches’ (Living Stream Ministries) and studying about the Lord’s Recovery according to Witness Lee who was a disciple of Watchman Nee. Man, reading the Recovery Version of the New Testament is so enlightening and exciting! It is like confirming what I always knew – that ‘Religion’ is the antithesis of being a Christian. I will be posting some stuff from them on my Christian blog whenever I start to get caught up on that one!

Anyway that is about it for now. I hope you are all well and happy and achieving your goals.

The nature of marketing is such that one must put forth lots of effort over time to get a small return. You need to build momentum and keep it going. It is no different with internet marketing. There are going to be peaks and valleys and I think we should prepare ourselves for this inevitability before we venture out into the world of the unknown.

Do you have that self-esteem and self-confidence that will get you through the dark days? Almost every successful person will say that they failed over and over before they figured out what to do. One quote I like is ‘success is just getting past all the failures’.

Becoming discouraged is counter-productive to say the least. It could even prove fatal to achieving your goals. It is natural, if you have been really trying and not seeing any results, to be less willing to spend your time and resources, and you may begin to feel there is no sense in ‘throwing good money after bad’.

One would hope that with even average intelligence, rational human beings would have the discernment to view advertising ‘with a grain of salt’. Has anything in your experience ever indicated that for example, it would be possible for your computer to be like a slot machine that spits out massive amounts of money within 24 hours?

Even when an internet marketing or affiliate program actually has substance and is a legitimate opportunity, they will use terminology that could be deemed ‘hype’ to compel people to take a chance and try it out.

It is amazing to me how many people are only interested in ‘get rich quick’ schemes – by magic, overnight, without any effort. Hello, this does not exist! There is no free lunch! Success in internet marketing requires consistent, aggressive action over time to produce results.

If you are actually seeking online business opportunities seriously, you will read the fine print – the earnings disclaimers, the terms of service, and maybe even do due diligence by investigating the principle or company’s reputation. For a ‘Join Free’ or $10., no obligation situation, you may not bother, and will do your research by trying it first hand.

You will, if logical, then differentiate between reality and hype. You will decide if there is a viable business opportunity or that there is nothing of substance – it’s all hype.

Oh boy, I get asked this question so many times. That is partly why I am posting to my blog about it and the other reason is I have writers block quite frequently when it comes to blogging.

However, I never have a problem with long diatribes in the Internet Marketing Warrior Forum where I am a moderator, and this article is a version of a post I did there recently. In fact in 3 years I have become the 3rd and 4th most prolific poster in the forum. (right now I am neck and neck to get back to 3rd). Yes, 7401 posts.

So what is up with the blog block? I guess because in a forum you get a reaction or response and that makes it more conversational. They don’t call me Chatty Patty for nothing!

In addition I respond to over 100 emails everyday in my capacity as the member support director of PlugInProfitSite.com — Did I mention diatribes?

There really is no average – there are actually too many variables to get scientific about it. We all come to the table with different skill sets, we put forth a different amount of effort, we have different amounts of time to devote to promoting our business.
