Make Working at Home Fun

When we worked at an outside job it always seemed so dreary. Maybe it is because you realize you are not free for the next 8-hours or so. Maybe it is because you don’t like the feeling of being chattel. Your time is not your own; and you are pretty much required to put up with lots of unpleasantness from co-workers, managers and customers.

This is not the case when you work at home and are your own boss. Hopefully, you were able to connect with a business that you enjoy and are interested in. You can work the hours that you want. You can split up the time you work into 2 or more segments in a day. You can work at night if you need to and you can take a day off when you want to.

However, it is critical that you do work on a regular basis to get things done that are necessary to run your business, or you will eventually run it into the ground.

So you might say having your own business you need to have discipline. You need to stay motivated and have faith. You need to work. Obviously doing something that is fun is much easier than doing something boring or tedious in a hostile environment. Maybe what that means to you is get it over with and spend the day outside, at the gym or whatever you like to do.

Maybe if you are really engaged in your business, it means to keep creating and refreshing what you do and how you do it. Make your business more efficient and more profitable by giving it some thought. There are millions of ideas you can come up with to do all that and when you are able to accomplish your goals you will have a great sense of gratification.

Obviously it would be easier to relax and have fun working at home if you are not stressed about money. That is why it is good if you have a way to support yourself in the first year. If you are super-serious about having your own business, start saving now. It may take a while but you should consider living expenses as well as the small costs of starting a business online.

Be Flexible In Your Home Business Start-Up Plan

A good analogy is the difference between water and earth. Water is able to flow over, under and through any solid matter. Earth on the other hand is solid and has various limitations about where it can go and what it can do. You want to be able to ‘go with the flow’ wherever it leads at any given time. There will be obstacles almost certainly but you do not want them to ever stop you. You need to learn how to go around them if you can’t resolve them.

You want to be able to move in whatever direction you find is conducive to business. If the niche or market you have chosen is not showing any promise then at the very least you should have the ability to add additional products or services so as to fit into another niche. This is one reason why the ‘multiple streams of income’ concept is so wise. In that case the premise is that if one stream is not moving or has even dried up, it won’t be as serious to your bottom line if you have others that may still be performing.

Whether you are talking about business opportunities (streams of income) or you are referring to your strategies and techniques (advertising and marketing), don’t have any ‘sacred cows’. Give things a fair chance and certainly if you have it on good authority that something is effective and has been recommended, really try to make it work over a period of time. If not then let it go and try something else.

Almost nothing in this life works instantly and a week or a month is certainly not enough time to really be able to give anything a fair chance. It is so ridiculous to hear people whine and cry after a week that they have ‘tried everything’ and ‘spent X number of dollars’ and nothing is working. They are just sure that something is wrong. What is wrong is their unrealistic fantasy mindset.

Just because something is on the Internet it does not mean that it will be effective instantly. It is true that starting an online business is 100’s of times cheaper and faster than starting an offline business, but that is still not to say that effort and time – reality – is not required. That is something that really needs to be realized and acknowledged.

No matter who you are listening to as far as how successful they are and how they are really enjoying their wealth and leisure, without any doubt this person had to pay his dues to accomplish anything, whether or not that is part of what he chooses to share with you. So get ready to work and always remember to ‘get real’.

Starting a Business – Address Your Stress

There are both good and bad forms of stress. For example being super busy working is a good kind of stress — or at least it can be unless you don’t enjoy what you are doing. Really exerting yourself as a challenge to achieving some goal, while stressful, can be very gratifying if you hit the target. So stresses like these can actually be motivational.

There are stresses that we can’t avoid because they are inherent in life – wars and rumors of wars, catastrophic events in nature, crime, health, financial and relationship problems, etc. Of course these are amplified because they go along with fear and anxiety. Since they can’t be avoided completely, we need to do something to mitigate them as far as how they affect us.

There is a direct relationship between our minds and our bodies. If you are using all of your resources to worry or trying to navigate chaos, then you can actually compromise your immune system. This can leave you more vulnerable to illness, and when ‘normal’ illness occurs, it becomes more difficult for your immune system to overcome it.

Starting a business, just like starting a new job, moving to a new location, or ending a relationship are considered major life events that are super-stressful. Unless we acquire coping mechanisms they can really undermine our well-being. It is a bit like having one hand tied behind your back if your entire system is pre-occupied with stress. So taking time away to relax and rest will actually serve to make you more accurate and efficient, hence more productive.

As well there are things you can do to ‘talk yourself down’ when you are on your last nerve and just can’t get away for a break. There used to be a school of thought that said it is best to rant and rave and get it off your chest; and it was that anger that we keep inside that will kill us. However now the thinking is that you can actually cause a major health event by throwing a ‘hissy fit’ – you can literally ‘blow a gasket’.

So it may be best to have ways to calm yourself down – and believe it or not being organized and taking things one step at a time are ways to alleviate a huge amount of stress when you are starting a business. You cannot digest or accomplish everything in one day. You should not contribute to your own demise by having unrealistic expectations. Schedule enough time to do just what needs to be done today and then take some time to breathe.

You need to realize that you may end up paying a few monthly fees while seeing no return on investment. That is the cost of doing business. If you truly want to start a business then you have to accept that it may cost you time, money and effort to do so. Your health and sanity however is not a price you should be willing to pay for any reason.
